BIO

Ashley J. Barnard Though born and raised in Northern California, I've been in Phoenix, Arizona for the past seventeen years. I live with James, my husband of sixteen years who is also a writer as well as an English professor, our eight-year-old daughter Alexandria, and our Welsh Corgi Sophie. I've been writing steadily for almost twelve years, and for ten seasons James and I ran Actors' Renaissance Theatre, a small, Shakespearean company which gave me the opportunity to direct, write and act in plays.

In addition to my stage adaptations with Dramatic Publishing, I am the author of seven novels and two published short stories. Shadow Fox is my first published novel (awarded Novel of the Year for 2010 by Champagne Books) and its two sequels, Fox Rising and Night of the Fox, are now available in print and ebook. Recently released on Kindle are my Victorian romance, In Byron's Shadow, and a Shakespearean fantasy, Cast of Illusions. I'm a staff writer for Fantasy-Faction.com, and I'm represented by the Belcastro Agency (www.belcastroagency.com).

As far as favorite authors and influences, I adore Phil Rickman, Guy Gavriel Kay, John Irving, Graham Greene, vintage Anne Rice, John Updike and Jude Morgan among others. Joyce Carol Oates, Ian McEwan and Michael Chabon are hit and miss, but when they do hit I'm smitten.

You can also find me at the Writer's Vineyard for my monthly blog, and at Fantasy Faction where I am a staff writer.
